How to Use the Image Format Converter

Our image format converter runs entirely in your browser — no files are uploaded to any server. Follow these steps to convert your images:

Step 1: Upload your images. Drag and drop images into the upload zone, or click the zone to browse your files. You can select multiple files at once for batch conversion. Supported input formats include PNG, JPG/JPEG, WebP, BMP, GIF, and ICO.

Step 2: Choose your output format. After uploading, the conversion settings panel appears. Select your desired output format from the dropdown — PNG for lossless quality, JPEG for photos, WebP for web optimization, or BMP for compatibility.

Step 3: Adjust quality (optional). For JPEG and WebP formats, use the quality slider. Set 90-95% for high quality, 80-85% for web use, or 60-75% for thumbnails. If your image has transparency, choose a background color (white or black) since JPEG doesn't support transparency.

Step 4: Convert and download. Click "Convert All" to process every uploaded image. Each file shows a before/after size comparison. Download individual files or use "Download All" to save everything at once.

Example: Converting a 2MB PNG screenshot to WebP at 85% quality typically reduces it to 300-500KB — a 75-85% size reduction with minimal quality loss.

Frequently Asked Questions

What image formats can I convert between?
PNG, JPG/JPEG, WebP, BMP, GIF, and ICO. Convert from any supported input format to any supported output format.
How do I convert PNG to JPG?
Upload your PNG file, select JPG as the output format, and click Convert. The converted JPG downloads instantly. Transparent areas become white by default.
What is WebP and why should I use it?
WebP is a modern format by Google offering 25-35% smaller files than JPEG/PNG at equivalent quality. Widely supported by modern browsers.
Can I convert multiple images at once?
Yes. Upload multiple files and convert them all to the same output format simultaneously.
Will converting PNG to JPG remove transparency?
Yes. JPG doesn't support transparency. Transparent areas are filled with a solid color — white by default, configurable in settings.
Does conversion change the image dimensions?
No. The output maintains the same pixel dimensions as the input. Only the file format and encoding change.
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. All conversion happens in your browser using the Canvas API. Your images never leave your device.
What quality setting should I use?
90-95% for high quality, 80-85% for good web balance, 60-75% for thumbnails. PNG and BMP are lossless so quality doesn't apply.
